Teal is the new orange.
The Teal Pumpkin Project by FARE is to help raise food-allergy awareness. One in every thirteen children have food allergies, so they are usually left out of the trick-or-treat fun since most candy is off limits.
There are ways though to make trick-or-treating inclusive for those children who have food allergies. What you can do is give out non-food goodies like Glow sticks, bracelets, or necklaces, pencils, pens, crayons, markers, bubbles, Halloween erasers, pencil toppers, mini slinkies, whistles, kazoos, noisemakers, bouncy balls, etc.
To notify the kids that you have these goodies you just put a teal pumpkin on your front door. If you participate in the teal pumpkin project you can still have candy but just keep them separated from the non-food items.
The teal pumpkin project was started three years ago to try and allow all children to enjoy the fun of halloween even if they have food allergies. Please join the other thousands of families participating to make halloween fun for all children. For more information visit www.tealpumpkinproject.org
Share this with family friends as someone you know may have food allergies and not be able to participate in these activities. Help all children have fun and enjoy the Halloween holiday.
