Saturday April 1, was the start of the 2017 spring anime season. With some selections that were highly anticipated such as the second seasons of Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia, and some new ones such as Sagrada Reset and Boruto: Naruto Next Generations.
First, after four years of anticipation Attack on Titan returns. The first season premiered back in 2013 and gained widespread popularity with many people through its intense action and plot. In a world where humanity has been pushed to the brink of extinction by humanoid creatures called “titans” that only eat humans, the story follows Eren Jaeger and company as they experience what it is like to be the last line of defense and fight for survival. For a shounen anime it does well keeping you on the edge of your seat to find out what’s next. And with the start of season two, many questions from season one’s cliffhanger ending can be answered, but with the seasons’s premiere adds new questions to be explored.
Another hit, My Hero Academia also got it’s second season started . The story is about a boy named Izuku Midoriya nicknamed Deku who wants to become a hero and attend the U.A. Academy the school for heroes. The only problem is that in a world where most of the population has a super ability known as a “quirk”, what happens if you were born quirkless? One day upon meeting his childhood hero, #1 hero All MIght, Izuku is given a chance to fulfill his dream. This show is very fun to watch because you get to see Izuku rise from the underdog without a gift to learning how to use and maintain his new found abilities and rise to the top in his class as well as his struggle against the League of Villians that threaten to take down All Might.
Next is Sagrada Reset. It is about a small town near the Pacific Ocean, whose population has some sort of unique power similar to My Hero Academia's "quirks". However, these powers range from being able to enter the mind of a cat, to resetting the world back to a certain point in time in the past. There is a group known as the Kanrikyoku that controls and monitors the use of these powers. Asai Kei and Haruki Misora work for their school's club called "Houshi" club, which execute any missions received from the Kanrikyoku. Misora has the ability to reset the world 3 days. This means that all events and any memory of the past 3 days that "could have" happened, never happened. Kei has the ability to "remember" the past. Even after Misora uses her powers to reset the world back 3 days, Kei will retain those 3 days in his memory. Combining their powers, these two solve missions issued by the Kanrikyoku.
Finally, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the sequel series to Naruto and Naruto:Shippuden. Naruto is a story about a young boy who dreams of one day becoming the hokage, The number one head ninja of his village. Through the series we see him grow alongside his teammates Sasuke and Sakura. We see him go from a hyperactive child in part 1 of the series to the strong shinobi that he is in part 2 while he struggles to bring home the revenge seeking Sasuke, and protect his world from the threat of a fourth great ninja war. Set years after the conclusion of Naruto’s journey his son Boruto will be learning the ways of the ninja alongside his friends who are children of popular characters from the first two series. Although this series and its characters have a big name to live up to keep in mind that its about the new era and these characters stories.
In conclusion all of these titles and many more shows have some good stories and characters to look forward to so go check them out today!
